With less than ten weeks to go until the General Election, people in Barnet are being reminded to register to vote.
Changes to the registration system last year mean that voters are now personally responsible for registering themselves, and must do so by April 20 in order to vote on May 7.
Andrew Travers, chief executive of Barnet Borough Council and returning officer, said: “With the General Election fast approaching it is vital that none of our eligible residents lose their chance to vote. Every household was recently sent a notification letter showing the names of everyone on the electoral register at their property.
“If you have recently moved into the borough, or are turning 18, you still have time to register to vote and I would urge you to do so soon.”
Peoplel can register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, or call the helpline on 020 8359 5577.
