A carnival has received a £200 donation from a supermarket.

Potters Bar Carnival, which will be held on Sunday, June 7, was given the money by Sainsbury’s branch in Darkes Lane, Potters Bar.

The shop is one of the main sponsors of the carnival and is calling for more organisations to join it and support the event.

The carnival will include a procession of floats and live music through Potters Bar, which will start at Canada Life and end at Elm Court, Mutton Lane.

Sainsbury's store manager Paul Stephens said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important we do what we can to support it.

“The Potters Bar carnival plays a massive part in the community and we just wanted to help out as much as we could.”

Carnival committee member Peter Weaver said: “We are extremely grateful to Sainsbury’s Potters Bar for their donation and support of the Carnival for the second year running which will be a big help.”
