Actress Barbara Windsor was guest of honour at a football tournament aimed at building better relationships between young people and the police.

The former Eastenders star, also known for her Carry On roles, took part in the event at Barnet Football Club, with young people from across Barnet competing in matches overseen by police officers.

The day was organised by the everyone2gether (e2g) project, a partnership of Barnet Police and the Nutmeg Community organisation, and supported by Barnet FC Kicks and the Mayor of London’s office.

Sergeant Dan Reid, who runs the project, said: “The event was a great success. One huge result was to see young people from estates in Colindale and Edgware interacting positively with officers from neighbourhood teams whom they come into confrontation with on a regular basis.”

Several more workshops are also in the pipeline.
