This chilling photograph of a dystopian tower block in Arnos Grove this week’s photo of the week.

Our chief photographer Peter Beal said Veronika Gallova’s photo of a half-demolished tower block, entitled ‘The End Of’, was the clear winner.

He said: “It’s a very haunting photo, and very striking. From the first view it feels like this building is in nowhere near connected to any of us, but it’s actually on our doorsteps.

“It’s got a dystopian feel to it and I like the barren landscapes. I’ve seen the building and have always wanted to photograph it, but Veronika’s chosen a different view, which I haven’t seen.”

Bruno Afonso took this shot at Enfield Street Market

Pete said: “It looks like the woman is in earnest to get home. She is a thoughtful looking woman and the photo is striking in its simplicity. I am keen to know what happened next in this shot.

“If we were to hide the red scarf in the background, it would spring to life.”

Jason Pritchard, Aldenham Country Park
