DANCE workshops have helped disabled and non-disabled children together.

Whitefield School and Mapledown School, both in Claremont Road, Cricklewood, have been taking part in the programme set up by charity Create.

Mapledown is a primary school for children with disabilities while Whitefield is a secondary school.

The project is designed to strengthen communication between those with and without disabilities, as well as to create a greater understanding of disabilities and develop friendships.

Create’s Co-Founder and Chief Executive Nicky Goulder said: “The scheme creates an inclusive environment in which friendships can flourish and barriers can be broken down.

“These dance workshops have allowed the young people to be truly expressive and to develop new skills and increased confidence.”

The project, which is possible thanks to a grant from the John Lyon’s charity, will be led by professional choreographer Nikki Watson and professional dancer Jodie Honeybourne.
