YOUNG rugby players with a disability were given the opportunity to travel away for a friendly game before watching their favourite team bring home a win.

The Sarrie’s Rugby Football Club boys made their first trip away to Worcester to support Saracens and play a friendly thanks to the club’s Sports Foundation.

The 14 boys, between 11 and 18-years-old, had the opportunity to train on a pitch at the Worcester stadium before playing in a friendly match against a team from Worcester who had similar disabilities.

But the day’s highlight was when the boys watched Saracens smashed the Worcester warriors 43-19 in the May 7 game.

Alan Day Volkswagen Dealers supported the trip with managing director Paul Tanner saying he was proud to be involved.

He said: “This was an amazing day for the boys and their families. Memories were made that will never be forgotten.

“A special thank you goes to the players, coaches and volunteers for making this a truly special day.”

The young boys included Ralston, Bertrand, Jerome, Jonathan, Alex, Guy, Alex, Jake, Nicholas, Gabriel, Carlos, Marc, Reid and Daniel.

The boys got to exchange shirts and trophies after their friendly game before professional players visited them to sign their shirts and flags as a memory of the day.
