After training for 15 years, a Barnet magician will perform his first solo theatre show at The Bull theatre tomorrow night (Wednesday, June 15).

Twenty-year old Leon the Magician has been fascinated with magic and training his mind since the age of five and now, he tells me: “What I do is demonstrate skills that I’ve learnt over a very long period of time, that I’ve practised to show audiences a new perspective on what magic is.

“I read people’s minds, I bend cutlery, I predict what people are going to say before they say it, card manipulations and card tricks and stuff with borrowed objects and using the power of my mind and memory and misdirection.”

Leon the Magician first saw magic at a holiday resort aged five years old, he says: “he showed me this one trick that I couldn’t figure out and it was an obsession since then.

“My first show was at East Barnet School just as I left at the end of A Levels. I put on a big show and in front of 400 people and the proceeds all went to charity. It was a big success and since then loads of people have been asking for me to do shows at people’s houses, wedding receptions and corporate events and that’s led to me doing a show in the theatre now.”
