Two Barnet men have been jailed for the rape of an 18-year-old girl.

Abdinasir Darbiye, Nurudeen Mohamed and a third man took the girl and two of her friends to a Travelodge in Hemel Hempstead after meeting her in a Watford night club on August 1 last year.

When they reached the Travelodge, where the girls were staying, the victim was separated from her friends and raped in a hotel room by the two defendants.

Darbiye, of Stewards Holte Walk in Friern Barnet, and Mohamed, of High Road in Barnet, were both found guilty of three counts of rape.

They were sentenced to eight years jail each on Tuesday, January 24 at Luton crown court.

Investigating officer DC Jarl Thomason said: “Darbiye and Mohamed subjected their victim to a harrowing and prolonged ordeal which left her traumatised.

“I would like to thank her for her bravery in reporting the matter to police and in her assistance with the investigation.

“The sentences handed to Darbiye and Mohamed by the court reflect the gravity of their offences.

“They now have a long time ahead of them to think about the harm they have caused this young woman.”

A third man alleged to have been present at the time of the rape and was found not guilty of rape by joint enterprise.
