A man was taken to Watford General Hospital after having a stroke in a supermarket car park.
Emergency services were called to ASDA in St Albans Road at around 6.10pm on Friday.
Staff contacted paramedics after the man, who is believed to be in his 50s, became unwell after getting out of his car.
East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson Adam Gretton said: "He was conscious and breathing but was not alert."
