Five people have been rescued and 25 evacuated by firefighters tackling a huge fire in a shop which has closed a road.
Around ten fire engines were called to Kay's Supermarket, which has flats above it, in Princes Parade, Golders Green Road, Golders Green this morning at 7.32am.
Crews from Hendon, West Hampstead, Finchley and Mill Hill fire stations are still at the scene due to all of the ground floor of the shop and half of the second floor of the building still billowing with flames and smoke.
The road is also closed and it is not known when it will reopen.
Three people were rescued with a ladder, two were led to safety by crews and 25 were people evacuated this morning.
Station manager Paul Fitzgerald, who is at the scene, said the alarm was raised by a passerby.
He said: “Crews used specialist cutting equipment to break in through the shop’s roller shutters at the front of the building and worked quickly in very difficult and smoky conditions to rescue three people via ladder and lead two to safety.
“The alarm was raised by a member of the public who noticed smoke coming from the building.”
Police have confirmed there is "no evidence to suggest this is a suspicious fire".
