Police officers entered schools to educate pupils on the perils of knife crime, in time for the long summer holiday.

This, the latest development of the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Sceptre assault on knife carrying, saw safer school officers take part in five school presentations in Haringey.

City of London police and British Transport Police were also involved, working with Metropolitan Police colleagues in activities across the capital.

Detective Superintendent, Des Fahy, Haringey lead for Operation Sceptre, said: “As we enter the summer period knife crime remains a priority for us and whilst we will be proactive in addressing the problem, our staff will also educate young people on the consequences of carrying knives through day-to-day contact and through our specialist schools officers.

“There are a number of projects being delivered locally to help us achieve this.

“I would like to thank our partners, parents and the Haringey community for their support and participation in this campaign.

“It is hugely encouraging to see the anti-knife crime message being driven forward by such a broad spectrum of the public.

“Haringey police will continue its efforts to remove knives from our streets and bring offenders to justice.”
