Students selling a new brand of water are hoping their enterprise will see them victorious in an inter-school competition.

Pupils in Year 13 at Copthall School in Mill Hill have launched "Pumpit", a brand of water which will partner with Water Aid to raise £2,030 to build a pump and sanitation block at a school in the developing world.

The pupils are hoping this will see them crowned the winners in the Tycoon in Schools competition, organised by the Peter Jones Foundation, whose founder is famed for his investment prowess in Dragon's Den.

The team of pupils created a business plan and submitted it, requiring a start-up loan of £1,000, and now are in the trading phase and have six weeks to sell their product, while documenting the business's journey.

Team member Mariam Ahmed said: "Being given this opportunity makes me feel better as a person, as I know that our mission is all for a good cause.

"Knowing that our hard work will save lives gives me even more motivation to gain more sales. This experience will be one to remember forever."

Charley Schlichter added: "Being of part of this incredible team has taught me a lot about team work and the amount of contribution that you have to put in order to make a goal successful.

"I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this amazing project, as we all worked so hard to completing our water bottle design and already being able to successfully selling them."
