An MP visited a college to view its high-tech facilities.

Bambos Charalambous, MP for Enfield, Southgate, visited Barnet and Southgate College to meet with staff and tour the college's new dental and Centre of Excellence for Technology Enhanced Care (CETEC) facilities.

Showing Mr Charalambous the ropes were college principal David Byrne and Firas Sarah, director for Barnet and Southgate College's CETEC.

Mr Charalambous said: "I have made further and higher education a priority in my parliamentary work and so it’s great to visit Barnet and Southgate College to see for myself how they are investing and planning for the future through their dental and CETEC facilities.

"Higher level dental apprenticeships is just one of the many exciting career pathways that students in our borough can follow.

"I studied at technical college and I know how much great work and commitment goes into the sector."

The training offered includes telehealth, which uses technology to enhance patient care and is what Mr Sarhan called the "future of healthcare", and they hope to support clinicians to develop training packages in these areas.

Mr Byrne said: "The brand new BSC Centre of Dental Sciences moves away from the ‘messy’ artisan craft of dental manufacturing to the cleaner tech driven world of CAD design and 3D Printing.

"We’re extremely proud to be leading on this unique project which will change technical education within the dental industry in London, bringing it firmly into the 21st century and beyond."
