A school's head boy fulfilled his campaign promise to get a sponsor for the football team.

Joseph Fay, head boy at St James' Catholic High School in Colindale, was able to gain sponsorship from Irish construction company, Magner, to update their kits which had been used since the 1980s.

The managing director of Magner revealed to Joseph that he was a pupils more than 30 years ago and was happy to sponsor a new kit for the team.

Joseph said: "It has really sent a buzz through the entire team and everyone connected with our school. We hope Magner continue to grow as a business and we are grateful to receive this generous gesture as part of the firms giving back philosophy."

He said he was also inspired to see past pupils such as Michael O'Keeffe of Magner become successful businessmen.

Michael O'Keeffe said: "As a past pupil of St James, I felt it was an obvious choice when our company was considering supporting local grass roots sports teams.

"St James gave me a great foundation in life and was instrumental in the successes of all my family who attended the school over the years. St James holds a great reputation amongst the Irish community, which I am immensely proud to say I am a past pupil of.

"Magner wishes the teams the best of luck for the forthcoming season and we hope they achieve their aim of becoming the best school team in Barnet across all year groups. However, one thing is for sure they will most certainly be the best kitted out team in Barnet."
