In May, it was announced that a 10ft statue of former Prime Minister and Finchley and Golders Green MP Margaret Thatcher is to be erected in Parliament Square.

The statue will show Mrs Thatcher wearing Order of the Garter attire and has been organised by the Public Memorials Appeal, whose founder Ivan Saxton said he had the idea for the memorial while joining thousands at Mrs Thatcher's funeral precession.

He said: "I launched an appeal to the general public for funding and when this was largely in place, I began to consider the work of a number of sculptors.

"I was pleased that Douglas Jennings agreed with the image of the statue that I had in mind and therefore in 2014, I commissioned him to produce it.

"Douglas subsequently brought our shared image into reality and he did an excellent job."

The sculpture does not yet have an unveiling date.
