A leisure operator will be supporting Barnet athletes through a special programme.
The GLL Sport Foundation is a support programme to aid athletes in their performance, training and any physiotherapy or injury rehabilitation required.
Barnet athletes can apply for the programme, which also includes access to venues across the UK and financial awards of up to £1,250.
Supported athlete James-Andrew Davis, a fencer from Edgware, said: "Fencing has been my passion from the age of four and I have been privileged enough to find a sport that I truly love and have been able to gain so much. I am now 25 years old and have not yet reached my peak.
"I have two Olympic Games to my name but am still striving to win that gold medal. Unfortunately the support from the World Class Programme into fencing will be no more.
"This is going to cause a huge burden on my resources in funding the various aspects of my season, such as coaching and travel. With this support I will be able to completely fund one of my tournaments this season."
Applications for athletes are open until February 20 at www.gllsportfoundation.org
