An MP visited a mosque as part of a special weekend.

Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, visit North Finchley Mosque as part of the Visit My Mosque weekend.

Ms Villiers was joined by Conservative candidates for the local council, Cllr Anne-Marie Pearce, Robert Weeden-Sanz, Pavan Pavanakumar, Julian Teare and Felix Byers, as well as Rabbi Hackenbroch from Woodside Park Synagogue.

The mosque is run by the Islamic Association of North London, which is one of around 200 mosques across the UK who opened their doors in February as part of the Visit My Mosque day.

Ms Villiers said: "It has been great to visit the North Finchley Mosque as part of the Visit My Mosque day. I enjoyed chatting to constituents who worship at the mosque and also meeting the Imam and members of the management committee.

"By opening up their place of worship to friends and neighbours in the wider community, the Islamic Association of North London is playing a valuable role in promoting community cohesion and mutual understanding between different faiths.

"Barnet is a diverse and multi-ethnic borough and events like this one are a great illustration of the strength of inter-faith harmony and dialogue."

This year is the fourth consecutive year of the initiative.
