The Interim Show of their art and photography A level students from Brampton College will be held at 5th Base Gallery in east London’s Brick Lane.
Each student from the Hendon college has been developing a personal project since September 2017 and the exhibition is the culmination of their research and development.
The art department at Brampton encourages students to push the development of their ideas through high levels of experimentation with regular discussion and critique. Students have worked with a range of processes and media, including painting, installation, film and digital and dark room photography.
Hannah Hewetson, head of art, explains: “The students are presenting their work as a group of young artists. They have worked as a curatorial team, and have had the opportunity to lead the installation process.
“It is very exciting for the College to be presenting its first off-site art exhibition, and for the students to raise the profile of their work and create new audiences, in the context of the thriving contemporary art scene of East London.”
Former students from Brampton College have gone on to study art foundation courses at Kingston and Central St Martins (CSM), as well as the Fashion Foundation course at CSM, and Photography at Parsons New York City.
Alumni includes Essie Buckman who now has a successful fashion label called Fortie, which is enjoyed by celebrities including Rihanna.
The Interim Show will be open for public viewing on Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 between 11am and 5pm. 5th Base Gallery, 23 Heneage Street, Brick Lane, London E1 5LJ.
