Sunshine and soaring temperatures helped a hospice fundraising event attract record numbers.

The Big Fun Walk for the North London Hospice is the hospice's biggest fundraiser of the year.

This year the hospice has hosted its largest ev,ent yet, attended by 1,400 people.

The hospice's director of fundraising Robin Langrishe said: “We had record numbers for this year's Big Fun Walk.

"They have raised an incredible amount of money.

"It will go towards funding vital patient care in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey,”

The hospice said tje walk benefited from the sunny weekend weather and is expected to raise more than £130,000.

Temperatures topped 28C during the 8.5-mile Big Fun Walk on May 6.

Supporters of all ages joined the event and the youngest participant to complete the walk on foot was just five years old.

The walk took them through nine London parks, starting at Cherry Tree Woods in Barnet to to St James' Park.

Walkers received their medals when they reached the end point at Storey's Gate Green, opposite Big Ben.
