A teacher who has made a positive impact on his students has won an award.

Tom Knott, who works at the Totteridge Academy, in Barnet Lane, Whetstone, won the Silver Pearson Teaching Award for secondary school teachers.

Working to overhaul the way maths was taught in his school, Mr Knott contributed to an 18 per cent increase in the number of GCSE passes.

Congratulating him, Totteridge Academy’s principal Chris Fairbairn, said: “We are incredibly lucky to have teachers like Tom.

“As anyone who works with Tom knows, he is committed to driving continuous improvement and always expects the best from every child.

“For those that have been taught by Tom, it is clear that he has their trust and confidence.

“This has translated into huge improvements in the results they have been able to achieve.”
