A women's refuge centre has been given a grant to help employers spot signs of domestic abuse.

Watford Women's Centre was given £500 to raise awareness about domestic abuse in the area.

The £500 grant came from Cllr Asif Khan's locality budget, given to councillors by Hertfordshire County Council to help them support causes in the area.

Fiona Miller, the chief executive of the Watford Women’s Centre Plus, said the grant will help with its Make Your Workplace a Safe Space to Talk campaign.

The campaign will help employers by giving them the ability to spot signs of domestic abuse among its workers.

Ms Miller said: “The Watford Women’s Centre Plus is delighted to receive the community grant from councillor Asif Khan.

“This money will enable the centre to provide victims of domestic abuse a helpline.

“It will also launch a campaign called Make Your Workplace a Safe Space to Talk.

“This campaign is aimed at businesses in Watford and Three Rivers to provide employers with a toolkit to help workers to signpost signs of domestic abuse.”
