More than half of all students at an independent Jewish college achieved A*s to As in their results.
Year 13s at Immanuel College in Elstree Road, Bushey, were on tenterhooks as they opened their grades – and were relived to find their hard work had paid off.
A total of 23 per cent of the colleges students received A*s and As in all subjects.
Two students from the independent school, Alex Root and Jeremy Schiff, will be moving on to study at Cambridge University and four other students will also be attending American universities.
Immanuel School headmaster Gary Griffin said: “We are delighted with this year's A-level results at Immanuel College which are even better than last year's.
“This is despite the fact that examinations have been made more rigorous and demanding as a consequence of government reforms.
“I would like to congratulate the students and their teachers who have worked so hard to achieve these magnificent grades which are thoroughly deserved."
