Groups which help young people "be the best they can be" can be nominated for an award.

The deadline to enter the annual Hertfordshire High Sherrif Awards is on Friday, November 16.

Held annually, they provide an opportunity to recognise the organisations within the county.

This year, Suzy Harvey, the current High Sheriff of Hertfordshire is focussing on honouring organisations.

She said: “Youth groups offer the chance for young people to discover more about themselves and to develop critical life skills.

"They can also encourage young people to take the right pathways in life."

Charity Hertfordshire Community Foundation has been organising the awards and managing a charitable fund on behalf of the High Sherrif for 20 years.

The awards are open to all community and voluntary groups working in one or more of the following themed areas:

• Youth projects

• Social Justice

• Youth related crime prevention

Applications are now open and the deadline for receiving nominations is 5pm on Friday, November 16. Winners will be announced at the High Sheriff Awards evening on March 14.
