A girlguiding group will mark 100 years since the end of World War One by creating a 'river of poppie' through the village.

Girlguiding Radlett District has come up with the idea of splashing Watling Street in Radlett with the the poppy, a symbol of remembrance to those who who have died in wars.

The 'river' will culminate in a display of 1,000 poppies in Tykeswater Garden as a way of saying thank you to the World War One generation.The Brownies, Guides and Rainbows have been supported by other community groups, Aldenham Parish Council and Hertsmere Borough Council.

Armistice Day will be commemorated on November 11.
