A shopping centre has sold a vacant lot to be developed into a hotel.
The Spires in High Street, High Barnet, has agreed to develop a vacant site backing onto its car park into a Premier Inn.
Construction on the Premier Inn will begin early next year and will be completed in 12 months.
A portion of the car park will also be dedicated to the new hotel.
According to the shopping centre’s management firm, Hunter, the new hotel will bring in more customers and create a better night time economy for people to enjoy.
This comes amidst an expansion at The Spires, bringing in new retailers and restaurants like H&M and Carluccio’s.
James Winpenny, investment manager at Hunter, said: "This application is the result of several years’ hard work, and will help us to continue to provide the investment that Barnet deserves, supporting the town at this challenging time for the high street.
"We were pleased there was so much support for the proposal and that engagement with the local community has resulted in the best design for the people of Barnet.”
