A volunteer has received an award for her services to a charity for people with life-limiting illnesses.
Elizabeth Timmons received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Watford Peace Hospice Care Volunteers’ Awards at the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth on November 4.
Ms Timmons, who has volunteered for the charity for more than 25 years and helps out in the Inpatient Unit serving meals to patients, was honoured before a crowd of more than 100 people.
Other award winners include:
• Young People Award - Joanna Donnelly
• Community Volunteers of the Year - Daniel Swain and the South Oxhey shop
• Special Recognition Award - Graham Hall and Alison Spooner
• Unsung Heroes Award - Raymond Webb
Speaking about the award, Ms Timmons said: “It really is an honour to receive this award. Peace Hospice Care is very special to me – the patients, their families, volunteers and staff have all been wonderful and I’m pleased to support this caring worthwhile charity in any way I can.”
The life-long charity volunteer also helped to set up the Irish and Holyrood Hospice Support Group.
Peace Hospice Care chief executive officer, Declan Carroll added: “Elizabeth has been a loyal volunteer over so many years and I can’t thank her enough for her support.
“My heartfelt thanks to the winners and all of our volunteers for giving their time so generously in support of our cause.”
