A department store has donated £2,000 to a children’s hospice.

TK Maxx donated the money to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, a north London hospice.

The funds will help support children with life-limiting and life-threating conditions, and their families.

Stephen Cook, district manager London, TJX Europe, part of TK Maxx, presented the money to Noah’s Ark yesterday.

Mr Cook was inspired to give the money after meeting Elsie, a young girl with leukaemia while he was on holiday.

Elsie’s mum, Helen, and father, Arun, was being helped through their daughter’s condition with the help from Noah’s Ark.

She said: “This was valuable because Elsie had virtually no contact with the outside world, so these stimulating and fun sessions really enriched her days.

“She used to say Jules was her best friend; there was a real special bond between them.”

Stephen said: “Having met Elsie and her family on holiday, and after becoming a father myself, I was inspired by the love Helen and Arun have for Elsie, whilst also acknowledging how challenging both physically and emotionally their journey has been.

“Knowing that Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice was local to me, I was compelled to apply for the grant.

“The organisation has been invaluable to Elsie and her family.

“These funds will make a real difference in helping Noah’s Ark with all the fantastic work that they do for hundreds of children in London.”
