Javi Gracia believes Watford need to be clinical against Manchester City after a spate of missed chances in recent games.

Watford have gone four games without a victory, including three defeats, with only one goal during this run.

But the Hornets had more shots than Leicester City during their 2-0 defeat on Saturday and Gracia knows his side need to improve their efficiency in front of goal.

The Watford head coach said: “It would be the best time to take our chances. For me it’s important to keep the amount of chances we’re creating against one of the best teams. It would be a good sign for us.

“To get something positive I’m sure we need to be much more effective than in the last games. We need to have two chances and score two goals. We need to dominate set pieces, defend well and attack well.

“In the last game we had 56 per cent possession, we had nine shots but none on target. We had more shots than them, more possession, more corner kicks and more attacks. These are good stats but it wasn’t enough. Playing against City maybe we won’t have more possession and shots than them but we need to be more effective.”
