Watford Labour Party members were out in London and Watford on Sunday taking part in a national protest against the “rise of racism and fascism” across Europe and the UK.
Watford Labour Party chairman, Mike Jackson along with councillors Nigel Bell and Asif Khan and other members, travelled to London to take part in a 15,000 strong demonstration against the UKIP march led by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, more famously known as Tommy Robinson.
In Watford, party members and others turned out to support a demonstration organised by ‘Watford Against Racism’ led by Linda and Patrick Meehan in St. Mary’s Square at lunchtime.

Mr Jackson said: “We are seeing the rise of racism and fascism in some continental countries and we don’t want the same far right politics to gain ground here.”
Linda Meehan, of Watford Against Racism, added: “We had great support from members of the public in Watford High Street. Watford is a happy diverse community and the last thing we want is racists coming here to divide us.”
