People have just two days left to make their views known about future housing and development in their area.

Hertsmere Borough Council has been consulting with neighbours in the borough for the past couple of months about its local plan after a host of sites were put forward.

Public exhibitions were held across the borough and newsletters have been sent to some homes.

Landowners have put forward sites across the borough in every town and village, which could have an impact on where you live.

It is up to the council to decide where is most suitable to build the new houses, which are part of government targets.

A figure of around 7,500 hoems up until 2036 has been set for Hertsmere.

If you have concerns about building near you or if you want to protect the green belt, now is the last chance to get your voice heard.

Reasons for objection can include design and appearance, concerns about parking, loss of privacy, traffic, smell, archaeology, impact on nature, highway safety, loss of light, effects on conservation areas, and more.

Loss of view, impact on property prices, personal views about an application, and impact during construction are among reasons which will not be taken into consideration.

Each site has its own code - e.g. BE1 or H3 etc. Make sure you refer to the code if making comments on a specific site.

Likewise, if you believe a site which has been put forward is suitable for development, now is also the time to have your say.

Not all the sites will be developed but at this moment in time, all are at risk.

Responses will be accepted until the end of Thursday.

A draft local plan, which will reveal sites which the council has decided to be most suitable will be released towards the end of 2019.

Sites in Hertsmere include Borehamwood, Elstree, Shenley, Radlett, Potters Bar, Bushey, South Mimms, Ridge, Letchmore Heath, and Aldenham.

A garden village is proposed very close to London Colney, near Tyttenhanger, but people it will most likely affect - those living in London Colney - cannot comment as they fall with St Albans District Council.

Parts of Oxhey and the edge of Watford fall within Hertsmere's boundary too, although there are no sites for development there.
