Nearly £1,800 was raised for a children’s charity in the run-up to Christmas.
Borehamwood Brass Band entertained shoppers at Tesco in Borehamwood between December 18 and December 24 and with the help of some festive elves who danced and sang their way around with buckets encouraging customers to dip into their pockets, which they did.
The Studios Rotary Club and members of the NSPCC committee also helped with the collection.
NSPCC organiser Ann Goddard said: “We are blessed to have such talented musicians within our town. Borehamwood Brass has, without quibble played at all the local NSPCC events for many years, helping to raise the profile of the NSPCC, together with raising some money at Christmas time with their carolling sessions at Tesco’s every year.
“We were over the moon to receive such a large contribution.”
