Eight fire engines were called to a large house fire today which filled the sky with thick plumes of smoke.

Emergency services, including 60 firefighters, tackled the blaze in Totteridge Lane which broke out at around 2pm.

The London Fire Brigade says the roof was "well alight" and videos taken at the scene showed bright orange flames as firefighters attempted to keep the fire under control.

The Brigade was called just after 2pm. Fire crews from Barnet, Finchley, Southgate and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage but London Fire has confirmed the fire is now under control.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Road closures were put in place along Totteridge Lane but these have since been lifted.
