Police have made two arrests in connection with an investigation where a woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a car in a supermarket car park.
Footage of an incident at Tesco Rickmansworth on December 23 went viral after shoppers were seen desperately trying to stop a vehicle leaving the car park, before it was able to ram parked cars out of the way and flee.
Police had initially been called to reports of a car being in a collision with several people and a manhunt was launched to trace a blue Citroen C3, which was later discovered in Watford.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed that two people have been arrested in connection with the incident including a 45 year old man from Edgware, who has been arrested on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving, and a 32 year old woman from Borehamwood, who has been arrested on suspicion of GBH, theft and dangerous driving.
They both remain in police custody at this time.
A police spokeswoman said: "Just before 2pm on December 23, police were called to a report of a car being in collision with several people in the Tesco car park on Harefield Road.
"The ambulance service also attended the incident and a woman was taken to Watford General Hospital after sustaining a serious injury. She is now out of hospital and recovering at home.
"Another person, a man, sustained slight injuries and also received hospital treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should get in touch on the non-emergency number 101 quoting ISR 397 of December 23."
