What do Ed Sheeran, Pharrell, Busta Rhymes, Basement Jaxx and Razzamataz Theatre Schools Barnet all have in common?

The answer is they have all had the pleasure of collaborating with London-based beatboxer Killa Kela.

Killa Kela has been working in the industry for over 25 years and has toured with some of the biggest names in the business.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools Barnet students also took part in a workshop led by Killa Kela on January 19.

Michael French, Principal of Razzamataz Barnet, said: “We believe it is important to encourage more young people to get into performing arts, which is shown to not only have positive effects on health and wellbeing but also on confidence and self-esteem.”

Killa Kela said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my love for beatboxing with children and young people of North London.

“From my past experience, students really get a lot out of these types of workshops. The opportunity to ask questions about appearing at Glastonbury as well as the biggest arenas in the world and the life of a professional performer is fascinating to many children and teenagers who want to take their love of performing onto the next level.”

As part of its pledge to keep up to date with current performance trends, Razzamataz works with professional musicians, dancers and actors to run special workshops on a regular basis to inspire and mentor students.

Michael adds: “Mentoring enables the students to feel supported and will allow them to develop their skills and improve their performance levels.

“These are important life skills to have and just as important to those children who don’t take their performing arts training any further.”
