Thieves smashed their way into a home in Amersham last week – prompting police to warn residents to be vigilant.

At some point between Friday, February 8 at 11am and Wednesday, February 13 at 3pm, burglars smashed a rear window at a property in Batchelors Way.

It comes just weeks after jewellery and cash were taken during a burglary in Green Lane at some point between Wednesday, January 30 and Friday, February 1.

There is no suggestion that the two burglaries are linked, but police have warned residents to stay vigilant.

The neighbourhood policing team sees a hike in the number of burglaries during the winter months as thieves take advantage of the dark nights and mornings.

In a bid to prevent burglaries, police say residents should keep keys out of reach and sight of doors and windows and not leave valuables on display, lock all windows and doors, consider getting a video doorbell and lock away ladders, garden tools and other items that burglars could use to get into a property.

Residents are also being urged to watch out for and report any suspicious activity to police, along with registration numbers and descriptions of people involved.

If you have any information about either of the burglaries in Batchelors Way or Green Lane, call 101.
