A “dangerous” gang member has been jailed for possession of a firearm.
Dkwan Mitchell, 24, from Wood Green, previously pleaded guilty to carrying a pistol and live ammunition on January 31.
He was sentenced to serve concurrent jail terms of nine years for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and six years for possession of live ammunition with similar intent at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday.
Mitchell's pistol
The court heard how Mitchell and a 16-year-old boy attempted to run away when approached by police on patrol in Hartington Park on March 19 last year.
After a struggle both men were searched, and Mitchell was found to be wearing a bulletproof vest and a bag containing a replica Russian service pistol modified to fire live rounds.
He also wore a hat with dreadlocks attached.

The 16-year-old boy was found in possession of a large machete with a sheath concealed in his trousers, and inside a bag he carried was another self-loading pistol with live ammunition.
Both were arrested.
Mitchell was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life on March 21 last year. He was remanded in custody to await trial.

The 16-year-old boy was charged on the same day with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a bladed article. He too was remanded in custody to await trial.
On October 12, 2018, he entered a guilty plea on all counts and was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court to five years and five months in prison.
Detective Sergeant Mark Attridge, from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command, said: "It is highly likely that Mitchell was in Tottenham intending to seriously injure rival gang members - this theory is supported by the loaded firearm he carried, the bullet proof vest he wore, and the location he was in when arrested.
"The sentence handed down has awarded the public a well-earned reprieve from Mitchell who has 11 convictions since 2004, for violence, weapons and theft offences.
"I would like to recognise the unarmed officers who confronted the armed gang members, putting their own safety at risk in order to protect the communities they serve and the team of Trident detectives who have worked tirelessly to present the overwhelming evidence to the court that secured this conviction."
The court concluded Mitchell is a dangerous offender which should be taken into account upon his release.
