The joint leader of the Green Party will visit the town to launch a councillor's election campaign.

Sian Berry, who is also a London Assembly member and the party's London Mayoral candidate for 2020, comes to Waltham Abbey on Thursday evening to help launch Dave Plummer's District Election campaign.

Mr Plummer, who is standing for the Greens in Waltham Abbey South West ward, said: 'I'm honoured that Sian is taking time out to help launch my campaign.

"Sian's work on the London Assembly, along with fellow Green Caroline Russell, has shown how much of a difference Greens can make, with particular achievements around public housing, youth services, cleaner transport and, of course, environmental protection.

"These are all issues which have been affected here in Waltham Abbey by indifference and inaction by our Conservative dominated District Council.

"If elected on May 2 I'll work with Epping Forest's Green Party councillors and others to be an independent voice for Waltham Abbey and our district."

Mr Plummer's campaign launch will feature live music from local duo The Crisis, nibbles and a limited amount of free drinks.

The free event is being held at Vintner and Mason, 22b Sun Street, EN9 1EE from 7.30pm.
