Denise Payet won a bronze medal at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open.
The Enfield teenager reached the Junior Girls’ Doubles semi-finals alongside Megan Gidney.
Having beaten opponents from the USA and Sweden, the pair had an eye-catching 3-2 (10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8) victory over French second seeds Camille Lutz and Prithika Pavade in the quarter-finals.
It meant they were guaranteed a podium finish, but they found the Japanese fourth seeds Kaho Akae and Miwa Harimoto far tougher in the semis as they fell 3-0 (11-2, 11-6, 11-7).
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Payet, 17, was seeded 11th for the Junior Girls’ Singles and won a tight first-round match against Nina Johansson of the host nation, prevailing 4-3 (11-3, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5).
That put her into the last 32, where she was defeated by Germany’s Yuki Tsutsui by a 4-1 (11-7, 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 12-10) scoreline.
