The Anglo-Iranian Community is taking its protest to Downing Street to highlight women’s role in the ongoing movement in Iran.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) have organised a rally outside Number 10 on Saturday for International Women's Day.

The rally will be followed by a march passing the House of Commons before ending opposite the House of Lords.

Hendon MP Matthew Offord has been a vocal supporter of the NCRI.

He said: “Last year saw protests against the Rouhani regime continue across Iran.

"At the forefront of many of these were brave Iranian women, who for too many years have been suppressed and punished for challenging the oppressive laws that reduce them to second class citizens in their own country.

“I support the NCRI’s commitment to abolishing all forms of discrimination against women in Iran and complete gender equality, and I call on the UK Government to recognise the efforts of the women of Iran in bringing about positive change for future generations.”
