A brass band concert raised £800 for a children's charity.

Borehamwood Brass performed at Allum Hall in Borehamwood in aid of the NSPCC, the band's chosen charity.

The band were also presented with a certificate by Joy Mather, chairman of Barnet Branch NSPCC, in recognition of the £1,800 the band raised at Christmas when they played at the Tesco superstore in the town.

The certificate was presented to Derek Holland, musical director, Andrew Grady, band secretary, and Simon Mansell, band manager.

NSPCC organiser, Dr Ann Goddard, said: "We are blessed to have such talented musicians within our town. Borehamwood Brass has, without quibble played at all the local NSPCC events for many years, helping to raise the profile of the NSPCC."

Borehamwood Brass play at events across Elstree and Borehamwood throughout the year and are always on the lookout for new people.

Members rehearse every Friday night at the Holy Cross Church Hall in Balmoral Drive, Borehamwood.
