Traffic on the M25 was stopped after a vehicle fire this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the motorway between j17 for Maple Cross and j16 for the M40 at around 3pm.
A vehicle, parked up on the hard shoulder, was in flames.
A decision was made by traffic officers to halt all traffic to allow crews to put out the fire safely.

All lanes were reopened by 4pm.
Delays remain anticlockwise on the M25 between j20 and j19 for Watford.
There are also queues between j17 and j16 because of an incident on the clockwise carriageway.
