Police rushed to a street in Borehamwood this afternoon following reports of a "disturbance" between a number of men.
A call to police suggested knives were involved in the incident and a large number of officers, a police dog unit, and a police helicopter, were dispatched to the Manor Way area immediately.
It happened at around 3.45pm.
However, following extensive searches and enquiries, police say they have found no evidence so far of any knives used and have found no one with stab injuries.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed that one man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and is on his way to police custody.
Enquiries are ongoing.
An air ambulance also landed at Ripon Park but was not needed to take anyone to hospital.
A statement from Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "The initial call to police suggested knives were involved in the incident. However after extensive searches of the area this afternoon, officers have found no evidence to suggest this is the case and have not located anyone with injuries consistent to being stabbed.
"Enquiries are still in the early stages and they are conducting the usual checks to ensure they are satisfied that no one has been injured."
