Huge piles of rubbish have been illegally dumped in country lanes near Borehamwood.
Tyres, cones, plastic bags, boxes, clothing, bricks, and all sorts of waste were photographed by a member of the public on Tuesday.
The giant mounds of rubbish have been left on the side of the road but the photographs show that some of the rubbish has been piled up so much, it has rolled into the road.
It's unknown how long the piles of rubbish have been there but Hertsmere Borough Council is now aware of the fly tipping, which has happened in the lanes between Borehamwood and the A1, and it is investigating.
A council spokesperson said: "Our environmental health team is currently investigating these fly-tips and we are working with Hertfordshire County Council and the police to take a co-ordinated approach to tackle fly-tipping in the borough.
"Fly-tipping harms the environment and visually blights the countryside, as well as diverting limited council resources away from the delivery of frontline services to clear the waste and pursue offenders through the courts, often at considerable cost."
The council says the latest incidents serve as a warning that people ensure their waste is disposed of properly and to always check the person taking the rubbish away has a waste carrier's licence. You should always receive a receipt for their transaction.
Earlier this year, Hertsmere adopted powers which mean householders who give their rubbish to a waste carrier who then dumps the rubbish illegally face fines of £300.
While the council has not been afraid to prosecute people who flytip in the borough.
A father and son from Edgware appeared at St Albans Magistrates Court last month after they were pictured illegally dumping rubbish in Wetherby Road, Borehamwood.
