A man was taken to hospital after he sustained a stab wound to his chest and shoulder.

Police were called to Tempsford Avenue in Borehamwood just after 9pm on Monday following reports of an assault.

A man aged in his 40s was found suffering stab injuries and he was rushed to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Armed police carried out a search of the area on Monday night and a suspect was detained with help from a dog unit.

Forensic officers were seen near the Howard Drive and Tempsford Avenue junction on Tuesday morning.

An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Detective Constable Ben Heath said: “This is believed to be an isolated incident between people known to each other, there is not believed to be a further risk to the public.”

  • Stephen Negus, 57, of no fixed address has been charged with GBH following an incident in Borehamwood on Monday. He had been remanded in custody and is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on September 16.
