Armed police were called to Shenley on Saturday night.
Officers were called to the Harris Lane area of the village shortly after 11pm following reports of a "disturbance" involving a large group of people.
The report to police suggested that some weapons had been spotted.
In response, armed units were sent to Shenley and a search of the area was carried out.
Several people were stopped and their details were taken.
At around midnight, a member of the public spotted a number of police vehicles, including armed units, near Tesco Express - it's believed this was part of Hertfordshire Constabulary's enquiries into the disturbance.
Police say following enquiries, no allegations were made, no weapons were found, and no arrests were made.
Officers monitored the area throughout the rest of the weekend as a precaution.
