A serial sex pest tweeted videos of himself sexually assaulting a sleeping man on a tube train.

Stefano Violante, 31, of North Street, Lambeth, used the alias 'London-exhiboy87' to upload multiple lurid videos to Twitter - in many of which he exposed himself on underground trains.

One video shows Violante sexually assaulting a sleeping man on a late night Northern Line train in 2018.

British Transport Police nicked Violante earlier this year, linking him to an earlier instance of indecent exposure on the Jubilee Line and identifying the victim who he assaulted last year.

Violante, of Clapham, plead guilty to nine counts of exposure and one count of sexual assault at Blackfriars Crown Court.

He was given a 12 month suspended jail sentence, and ordered to wear an electronic tag for 40 days as well as paying his victim £140 compensation.

Violante will also be placed on the sex offenders register for the next decade, and will be subject to a five year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) - which places limits on his travel and internet use.

DC Elaine Saxton-Thomas, of British Transport Police, said: “The videos which Violante recorded and shared online were utterly disgusting – in an attempt to disguise his perverse behaviour, he would upload his videos under an online alias.

“Despite this, our enquiries lead us to identify Violante and thanks to the overwhelming evidence we supplied to the court, he was forced to plead guilty to nine counts of exposure and one count of sexual assault.

“This type of disgraceful behaviour will not be tolerated and the internet is no safe haven to hide from police capture.

“I would like to thank those members of the public who reported Violante’s offensive videos to us, so we were able to take action and arrest him. If he continues to offend, he can expect to serve time behind bars.”

Mandy McGregor, head of policing and community safety at Transport for London, added: “Violante’s behaviour was predatory and disgusting. We are pleased that he has been brought to justice and the conditions of his sentencing will have an impact on his day-to-day life.

Predatory and disgusting

“This case shows that every report helps to build a picture and that every report of unwanted sexual behaviour is taken seriously and investigated.”

The shocking case comes just days after new figures showed that sexual assaults on the Underground have soared by 42 per cent in the past four years - with over one thousand incidents on the Central Line alone since 2015.
