A college in Borehamwood has opened a new learning centre.

Oaklands College, in Elstree Way, has officially unveiled the new space which will offer a variety of different courses for students.

There is a state-of-the-art construction workshop, made possible by a £210,000 investment by the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Courses on offer include English for speakers of other languages, adult short courses, business, construction and a range of other subject areas.

The new learning centre will help tackle skill gaps identified by businesses in the area and YC Hertfordshire - Hertfordshire County Council’s youth support programme.

Principal Zoe Hancock said: “This is an exciting opportunity to put Oaklands College back into the heart of the Borehamwood community and to help even more students reach their full potential. We look forward to welcoming students to our new learning centre.”

Adrian Hawkins, deputy chair of Hertfordshire LEP, said: "We are working to ensure Hertfordshire businesses have access to the skilled and capable workforce they need in order to grow. "With the help of our £210k investment, the new Oaklands College Borehamwood facility will deliver essential courses to tackle the recruitment challenges faced by growing sectors, including construction and care."
