An Asda is reopening after being gutted by a massive fire.

Asda Walthamstow re-opens tomorrow – 10 am on Monday, November 25.

The supermarket closed in July after a fire in The Mall shopping centre where it is located damaged several stores.

Asda says it has taken the opportunity to improve the store.

Returning customers will find an extended world foods range, with additional bays added to cater for a wider range of cuisines.

Customers will also be able to pick up plain, chocolate and fruit pancakes baked fresh in-store thanks to the addition of a new hot plate to the in-store bakery.

The rotisserie chicken and create your own pizza counter have been given a makeover, and a new kiosk and customer service desk installed at the front of the store.

Serife Said, general store manager at Walthamstow, said: “We’re looking forward to returning to a refreshed and refitted store.

“My colleagues and I would like to say thank you to all of our customers for their patience and support while our store has been closed following the fire in the mall.

“Although boards are still covering many of the stores around us we’re pleased to say we’ll be open and back in business from next week. We're all itching to get back into the store and do what we do best - serve our customers.

“I would also like to thank all of my colleagues who've been working at our Leyton, Edmonton and Dagenham stores for the last few months.”
