A councillor has praised a station manager who went out of his way late last night to remove the final traces of some offensive graffiti.
Yesterday, the message 'F*** the Tories' was daubed over a mural at Elstree & Borehamwood station.
The political slur was condemned by Hertsmere's Conservative parliamentary candidate Oliver Dowden as well as Borehamwood Labour councillor Richard Butler.
Bob Redman, chairman of First Impressions, the group responsible for the mural, went down to clean the graffiti away but was not able to wipe all of the red paint off.
Hillside ward Conservative councillor Farida Turner, the ward which the station sits in, was concerned that some of the message could still be displayed and later informed station manager Marc Asamoah.
Mr Asamoah immediately went to Tesco to purchase some white paint before returning to the station, painting over the rest of the graffiti.
Mr Asamoah has painted over the rest of the graffiti
Mr Redman says he will return at a later date to complete try and match up the paint to the rest of the mural.
Cllr Turner said: "Mr Asamoah went above and beyond and he should be recognised for doing what he did."
