A man has been jailed for indecent assault.

John Carpenter, 66, of Windsor Drive, Barnet, was found guilty of one count of indecent assault against a girl in Binfield in the 1980s following a two-week trial at Oxford Crown Court.

However, Carpenter was found not guilty of one count of indecency with a child against the same victim and five counts of indecent assault against two other girls during the 1980s and 90s.

He was jailed for three years, with an additional year on licence on Friday, November 22.

Carpenter was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Hannah Broughton of Force CID, said: “I would like to thank all the victims and witnesses involved in this investigation. They have shown incredible strength and courage to contact the police and support our investigation.

“I am pleased that Carpenter will now serve three years in jail, with an additional year on licence. He will also be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period.
